When Supernatural aired, I wasn't one of the people who understood the Hot!Dean and Cute!Dean comments. But since they're doing a Gilmore Girls revival and Jared's going to be in it, I decided to finally check it out. :-)

So I just saw Jared in the Pilot and ok - yeah he's really adorable. 😁

Looks like a show I might like. I had friends that actually insisted I watch it at the time but I think it was just a super busy period. Let's see how this goes. ☺️

Been forever and I've missed the fandom. Things have gotten crazy RL but hoping things will get better. Now what have I missed? :-)

Thor: The Dark World

Just got back from watching the Thor sequel and all of us LOVED it and will be watching it again. :-)

So much fun, and again Hiddleston and Hemsworth just killed it. :-)

Vote: Best Horror Show on TV

For those who'd like to give Supernatural a vote:

It sucks that we're only second place but I'm enjoying the come from left-field lead of Hannibal. :-) Apparently, Hannibal fans are worthy adversaries in things like this.

Vote now since I think there are less than 2 hours left. :-)

Pacific Rim

More people need to watch this. I know it's just another popcorn flick but it's fun! I mean giant robots, mind-meld... it's a J2 story waiting to be written! :-)

World War Z

Eek, been forever since I posted. Crazy busy but just wanted to RAVE about World War Z. I LOVED it from start to finish. I'm not sure where else it's been released but if you've seen it or once you see it, would love to hear your thoughts. I'll be reading the book this weekend - I hear it's different from the movie. :-)

We watched Brave the other day and the hubby was disappointed. He said it wasn't deserving of being called a Pixar film.

I kind of agree with him. While watching it, it reminded me of a lot of the Disney Princess (DP) movies. Though it did break some of the traditional DP stuff. I said it was nice but what I wasn't expecting from a Pixar movie. When I moved on from that - there were a lot of things going for it. So it wasn't a total loss. (For sure it wasn't the awfulness of Mirror Mirror)

The Amazing SpiderMan

Ok - I'm kinda jealous that Brave isn't out here yet but soooooon....

In the meantime, the hubby dragged me to watch The Amazing Spiderman with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. I say dragged because I wasn't really excited about it from the trailers. I was afraid it was going to be a rehash of the Toby Maguire one.

I was pleasantly surprised. I liked it and can see myself seeing it more than once. :-)

Rock of Ages

Just got home from watching Rock of Ages and it was fun! :-) Tom Cruise was a surprise - he was brilliant in it. :-)

Can't wait to catch the musical sometime mid-June. Heard that the movie and musical have different plots so that should be interesting.

I just finished watching the second Sherlock Holmes movie and wow - is it just me or was that EXTREMELY slashy. Like X-Men: First Class levels slashy?

Makes me almost wanna check out the fanfic scene of that fandom. Hehehe.

All U.S. Internet Providers will be policing downloads by July 12, 2012

Please repost this? I have never begged for one of my posts to be boosted. I am just so worried for my friends and want you to know.

According to this article, dated March 15, 2012:

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

If you are going to do this, you need to do it before March 1st. It has been said that users will not be able to do anything about this after that date.

With reference to Google's policy changes and how everything you do with your Google account will be tied together into their super-cauldron of information, you will probably want to clear your Google Web History out - if you turned that feature on - before month's end. After that, you won't be able to clear it, and everything you search for will be connected with your account.

To check settings and/or clear out your Web History:

1. Go to Google. If you aren't signed in already, do so.
2. In the top right-hand corner you'll find your email address or name, perhaps an icon if you have a Plus account, and a little downward facing arrow. Click on the arrow and a menu will pop up.
3. Click to 'Account Settings'. This will take you to a page called 'Accounts'. (If you have a Plus account, you might go via a Plus sign-in page.)
4. Scroll down to a section called 'Services'. Here you'll find an option called 'View, enable, or disable web history', which has a link next to it. Click on the link.
5. If you never turned web history on, you'll get a page asking if you want to turn this service on. Just click 'No Thanks' and all is good. If you did turn it on, you should have a list of your searches. At the top there is a button that says 'Remove All History'. Click this and follow the instructions which will remove all items from your Web History and pause the feature so nothing else will be added in future.

Look, a meme!

I'm running a test to see who's reading my posts. So, if you read this, leave me a one-word comment about your day that starts with the third letter of your LJ USERNAME. Only one word please. Then repost so I can leave a word for you. Don't just post a word and not copy - that's not as much fun!

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

  • Read more about ACTA here: ACTA Fact Sheet
  • Read the authentic version of the ACTA text as of 15 April 2011, as finalized by participating countries here: ACTA Finalized Text
  • Follow the history of the treaty’s formation here: ACTA history
  • Read letters from U.S. Senator Ron Wyden wherein he challenges the constitutionality of ACTA: Letter 1 | Letter 2 | Read the Administration’s Response to Wyden’s First Letter here: Response
  • Watch a short informative video on ACTA: ACTA Video
  • Watch a lulzy video on ACTA: Lulzy Video

Say NO to ACTA. It is essential to spread awareness and get the word out on ACTA.

SOPA Boycott

Originally posted by morgandawn at SOPA Boycott
For those of you wanting to participate in the upcoming Black March protest against Internet censoring legislation, but favor a more targeted approach: The SOPA Boycott:  Boycotting those companies that sponsored or supported SOPA and PIPA.  This allows participants to focus their efforts on larger companies and avoid harming indie artists and small businesses.

There are lists being pulled together to help focus the boycott efforts.  One is here. But near the top is a more compete list that also offers a  boilerplate script  you can use to contact the individual companies you will be boycotting, to let them know your opinion and that you will not support their company unless they rethink their position. And there even is an app to help you identify the companies and their products.

So whether you favor a total boycott or a targeted boycott, you can participate and you can tailor your level of participation.  We have the tools, the will and the strength to take a stand.

Note: the Business Software Alliance that represents a  large number of  software and hardware companies (Dell, Apple, Intuit, Adobe) withdrew its support in November, so keep in mind that the Google list is in process of being updated.

edited to add: name of the targeted campaign, along with a link to the Android app.
